The trail takes you across open prairies dotted with numerous small marshes, and through hammocks of cabbage palms and live oak trees.
Deer, turkey, and many kinds of wading birds can often be seen in this area. You may also encounter bobcats, otters, bald eagles, sandhill cranes and alligators.
The total length of the four-loop trail is about 14 miles. Numbered trail markers correspond with the horse trail map.
