Myakka River offers cyclers diverse opportunities to explore a variety of landscapes. Seven miles of flat, paved roads wind through shaded hammocks, along grassy marshes and the Upper Myakka Lakeshore.
You can also ride on backcountry dirt roads such as Fox's High Road and Powerline Road. Road condition varies depending upon weather (wet/dry conditions), hog rooting, and disked roads for fire breaks.
Rental bikes are available from the Myakka Outpost.
Primitive Camping areas are accessible by bike; Mossy Hammock, Bee Island and Oak Grove. Registration at the ranger station is required for overnight camping. Bikers must walk their bikes on the hiking trails.
A map showing bike routes, hiking trails and the primitive campgrounds is available at the ranger station.
