Sat. May 3: Myakka Friends Adventure Series: Butterflies of the Park

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED. Come learn about the park’s great diversity of butterflies and host plants with Belinda Perry, former park biologist. Meet at the Visitor Center for a brief orientation and then proceed by car to various locations depending upon what’s in bloom. Bring water, hat and comfortable shoes for hiking. 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Fee $10.

Sat. May 10: Myakka Friends Adventure Series: Those Amazing Plants

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED. Join Dr. Ken Erb, Botanist and Professor Emeritus of Hofstra University, for a walk in the park to learn some very interesting things about our amazing plants. We will explore questions such as What is a flower, a seed, a fruit and how do they help plants? Why does a plant have leaves? Why do plants need light? What features do they have which help them compete for light? What is a bud & what good are buds anyway? How do trees grow so big? Plants really can be great fun! Wear comfortable shoes. Walking will not be extensive.10:00 a.m. until noon, Fee $10.
